If you’re ever occasionally forced to use Windows and wish to God you could turn your PC into a Mac well you’re shit out of luck. However if you would like to make Windows slightly less annoying here is a quick tip.

You know those little “Balloons” that fart out of the notification area down there by the clock? You know the ones that try to be helpful but do nothing but state the obvious. Those things drive me up the wall! Maybe I’m too sensitive but if you feel the same here is the fix:

Start>Run>GPEDIT.MSC>User-Configuration>Administrative-Templates>Start menu and taskbar

Hide the notification area>Properties>Enable

Basically just follow the path above and enable those two group policies and that will turn your notification area into a nice quiet, submissive clock like it was meant to be. (Don’t forget to restart).

Don’t worry if you start feeling lonely and miss having your computer tell you about your network connection every time you turn the thing on you can always go back and hit disable.
